The personalised number plate, sometimes referred to as vanity plate, is a license plate with customised letters and numbers chosen by the person registering the plates. Cars, trucks, and motorcycles can all be registered with a personalised number plate. Custom plates differ from the personalised number plate. Custom plates allow for modifications in color and size, while the personalised plate follows standard colors and sizes. Personalised Number Plate Options

The personalised number plate offers a few different options. First of all, the owner can choose between five alphanumeric configurations for their personalised number plate. The plate can have one of the following configurations:

  • 5 letters followed by 1 number
  • 4 letters followed by 2 numbers
  • 3 letters followed by 3 numbers
  • 2 letters followed by 4 numbers
  • 1 letter followed by 5 numbers

These plates can come in different sizes as well. There is the standard size, which is 371x133mm. Then there is also the slim size, which is 371x100mm. Owners can also choose to receive one slim plate and one standard plate. Motorcycle plates measure 252x98mm.

When registering for your personalised number plate, you will have to pay a processing and manufacturing fee. In order to keep your plates, one year fees are charged to registered owners. If ever you plan on changing automobiles, your personalised number plate can be transferred. For personalised number plate transferring, you will need your plate registration as well as the registration of your old and new vehicles.
